STEM Girls University
STEM Girls University is a program designed to introduce STEM Girls participants to STEM concepts through in-depth discussion and hands-on activities featuring women in science. University courses will be taking place at the Main Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in or near the MakerSpace. See below for the 2017-2018 programs.
9/02 STEM Girls University: Marine Biology
Learn about the world of Marine Biology by diving deep into careers in the field and meeting some aquatic specimens.
Ages 8-14. Saturday, September 2 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Adult chaperones must remain in the Library at all times during the program.
10/21 STEM Girls University: Forensics
Solve a crime like the professionals while learning how forensic science is used in things from law enforcement to anthropology and archaeology.
Ages 8-14. Saturday, October 21 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Adult chaperones must remain in the Library at all times during the program.
STEM Girls Day Out
STEM Girls Day Out is a program that brings STEM Girls participants directly to the labs, facilities, and offices of women who are actively working in STEM fields. We will have an inside look at how STEM jobs are being done all around the Tri-State region! Prepare to spend an afternoon exploring active STEM work sites, participating in hands-on STEM activities, discussing STEM careers, and making new friends along the way.
9/08 STEM Girls Day Out: Gorman Heritage Farm
Learn about the science behind agriculture as you experience, and participate in, life on a working farm.
Ages 8-14. Friday, September 8th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at 10052 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45241. Transportation is not provided. Adult chaperones must stay with their child during the program.
10/28 STEM Girls Day Out: University of Cincinnati Blue Ash Vet Tech
Join the UC Blue Ash College Veterinary Technology staff and students for a day of hands-on learning about how Vet Techs care for different kinds of animals. Practice your skills during laboratory simulations.
Transportation is provided via bus from Cincinnati Museum Center to the UC Blue Ash Campus; see bus departure times by our class options (standard parking rates in the Museum Center lot apply). If you plan to use your own transportation please let us know in advance and meet us at 9555 Plainfield Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45236.
Ages 8-10, Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., bus departing Cincinnati Museum Center at 9:15 a.m.
Ages 11-14, Saturday, October 28 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., bus departing from Cincinnati Museum Center at 12:15 p.m.
STEM Girls Newsletter
The STEM Girls Newsletter is a monthly publication that includes articles and activities related to the latest STEM concepts.
